A Case of Severe hepatic tuberculosis

Abstract

|
A case of rare hepatic tuberculosis which was not associated with miliary tuberculosis is reported with review of literatures. The patient, 20 years old male, was admitted with chief complaints of dyspnea, abdominal pain, drenching night sweats and hot feeling, which persisted for 5 months. On physical examination, abdominal distension, huge hepatomegaly and a few enlarged axillary lymph nodes were noticed. Liver function tests revealed; BSP 20%/45min, CCF 2+/21hrs, SGOT 48 units, alkaline phosphatase 3.2 Bodanski units. Tuberculous, lesions of liver was confirmed by an exploratory laparotomy followed by the histopathological examination. Medical therapy with the primary antituberculous agents for 2 months resulted in excellent recovery.
